Minoru Nagahara
The Visionary Founder
Minoru Nagahara’s journey into the world of furniture began at the age of 15 in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan. Al de Lange
A Pinoneer in Philippine Industrial Design
Alfonso E. Nakpil de Lange, more widely known as Al de Lange, is a pioneering figure in the Philippine furniture and design industry, recognized as the country’s first industrial designer. His path, from studying in the United States to building a legacy in fine wood furniture, has left a lasting mark on the local furniture landscape. In 1969, Al and his wife Kay founded Designs Ligna in a modest workshop in their front yard. With a mission to craft the finest wooden furniture in the country, they championed clean lines and timeless elegance. Their work stood out for its simplicity and craftsmanship, and while the journey brought challenges such as floods and fires, the de Langes persevered. Over time, Designs Ligna grew into one of the Philippines’ leading furniture manufacturers and exporters.

Tage Petersen
Tage Petersen – The genius behind a generational legacy
Tage Petersen founded Wendelbo in 1955, beginning with a small upholstery workshop in Aarhus, Denmark, driven by a clear vision to craft furniture that blended timeless design, skilled craftsmanship, and everyday functionality. Drawing inspiration from Danish modernism, his early creations, such as oak-framed sofas and armchairs, stood out for their bold form, honest materials, and refined simplicity. Petersen’s unwavering dedication to quality and design integrity laid the groundwork for what would become a respected family-run design house. Over the decades, Wendelbo has grown into a global brand across three generations, continuing to reflect Petersen’s legacy through a commitment to Scandinavian elegance, comfort, and enduring values.
